For a long while I have been drawn to color. Pure color. How opposite or like colors compliment each other and the emotion that color evokes.
I describe my work as "a surface of navigation", like a map. My paintings are landscapes of colors, shapes, lines and textures, related and synchronized to create their own rhythm. My work attempts to "jog the memory" of the suggestions of color and light that are evident in all of us. To inspire interaction and awaken our sensibilities to light and color.
Motivation for me comes in the many colors , patterns, and environments I observe. I am also inspired by the sophisticated patterns of a Gee's Bend quilt or wandering through the grey concrete world of parking garages and industrial areas , or observing the sublime color of water in a white bathtub. My inspirations are not always evident and they arrive in many different forms.
